How To Handle Your Horse When Excited
In this lesson, we focus on the horse’s emotions: bringing the emotions up and then how to bring the emotions back down. Always remember, our first goal is to keep ourselves safe.
We start this exercise by lunging the horse around us. Keep a good distance from the horse to maintain our safety. Then start slowly drawing the horse closer. Lastly, we disengage the horse’s hip, which should bring the horse’s emotions back down. When the horse is close to you, the horse should be calm.
Remember, we’re operating on the horse’s time and we’ll take as long as it takes.
